7 Step Action Plan: Scam Help
IMMEDIATE ACTION is critical. If you or a loved one in New Zealand has just been scammed or your account details have been compromised, your first step is to protect your finances and your identity.
Scam Help Christchurch
Stop Panicking. Start Acting. You are not alone.

Disconnect the Scammer
If the scammer is still talking to you or remotely connected to your device, hang up the phone or unplug your internet modem.
Contact Your Bank NOW
βTheir phone number is on the back of your bank card. Block any compromised cards. Freeze the affected accounts to stop further theft.
Scan for Malware
If the scammer had remote access to your computer, run a full security scan to remove any hidden software they might have installed.
Change Your Passwords
Do this on a clean device. Start with your Primary User Accounts and Online Banking. Then change all others.
